Porcelain Slabs

  • Large format porcelain panels suitable for floors, walls, showers, fireplace surrounds
  • Use as a kitchen countertop with limitations
  • Nonporous, heat resistant
  • Sealing is not necessary
  • Often comes in 6 mm, 10 mm 12 mm thickness
  • Chips, cracks and scratches can be repaired but will remain visible
  • Available in polished or matte finishes

Soapstone

  • Composed primarily of talcvSoft but extremely dense
  • Nonporous, nonabsorbent, heat resistant
  • Resistant to acids and alkalis
  • Easily scratched but a gentle sanding and mineral oil treatment removes scratches
  • Available mainly in honed (matte) finish

Sintered Stone (also called ultra-compact surface)

  • Brands include Dekton and Neolith
  • Use as kitchen countertops, flooring, fireplace surrounds, exterior cladding, and outdoor countertops
  • Created through a kiln-fired process that heats and applies pressure to a mineral blend until it binds together
  • UV, chemical and scratch resistant
  • Nonporous and will not stain
  • The thickness ranges from .6 cm to 3 cm
  • Available in a variety of finishes

Limestone / Travertine

  • Sedimentary rock
  • Used as tile, flooring, backsplashes, countertops, exterior pavers and outdoor countertop
  • Often chosen for its old-world look
  • Commonly available in a honed finish
  • More porous than other natural stones
  • Requires sealing

Onyx

  • Semi-precious variety of agate with different colors in layers
  • Translucent and can be backlit
  • Can use as countertops, fireplace wall, accents
  • High maintenance
  • Soft stone – easily scratches and etches
  • Requires sealing and routine maintenance
  • Available in high polished finish

Precious Stone

  • Hand selected gemstones that are cut and bound together by resin to create a smooth and solid surface
  • Precious gems could include agate, quartz, jasper, and amethyst
  • Available in polished finish
  • Require sealing and routine maintenance

Pyrolithic (Geoluxe®)

  • Made from 100% mineral-based materials
  • Through-body color and veining
  • Used as countertops, fireplace surrounds, exterior cladding, outdoor countertops
  • Available in 2cm thick slabs
  • Available in high-polished and matte finishes
  • UV, chemical and scratch resistant
  • Nonporous and will not stain
